Meditation solely aims at focusing on the inner self. Your mind, body and soul combine to form the inner self. Disconnecting yourself from the outer world and connecting with inner self even for a minutes has a positive influence on the mind, body and soul. Many people find it difficult to focus at the beginning due to hindrances such as restless mind, emotional distress and blockages of energies in the body. Here are some practices that settles down and prepares the mind, body and soul for meditation.
1.Drawing Mandalas:

Mandalas are formed by arranging various creative elements in a circular pattern. These elements include geometrical shapes, floral motifs and other embellishments. You can also make your mandalas more interesting by filling the elements with your favourite colours. Mandalas resembles the universe which is whole, complete and boundless. You can develop your mandalas as far as you wish. While you are drawing the mandalas your brain functions are similar to the evolution process of the universe. This establishes a synchronized interaction with the universe and gives a positive impact on the mind. Observing mandalas also provides similar benefits.
2.Gazing at the Sun, the Moon and the sky:

These three cosmic elements have significant influence on the human body. As per the yogic traditions they also possess their respective centers in the body. Gazing at them provokes the centers and develops their associated magnificent features in us.
The moon induces calming and soothing effect whereas the sun makes us vibrant, radiant and dynamic. Gazing at the moon cools down the body, minimizes stress, anxiety and fills with the sense of satisfaction. The Sun, on the other hand, helps to overcome all the obstacles and motivates to achieve your goals in the life. Gazing at the sky opens up the mind. Stress arises due to illusory limitations.
